Nothing is quite as beautiful as soft, smooth and vibrant-looking skin. Over time, the effects of aging and the elements begin to show on all of our faces. Since 1996 medicine has seen dramatic improvements in the ability of lasers to retard and/or reverse these outward signs of aging. However, most busy patients don’t want to spend much time away from their active lifestyles recovering from aggressive laser resurfacing. This type of resurfacing is generally not intended for patients in their 40’s and older. Those patients generally have sun-damaged skin that is lax with dynamic wrinkles and lines and will benefit from standard multiple pass fractional CO2 skin resurfacing. Fortunately, Dr. Caglia performs Microlaser peel for patients in our region with great results and very little downtime.

WHAT IS A MICROLASER PEEL?

A Micro laser peel is the latest advancement in skin resurfacing. This peel is perfect for those patients that are younger and desire improvement of textural and pigmentary changes. The Micro laser peel (mini resurfacing) is performed using the fractional CO2 laser at lower and less aggressive settings. This type of resurfacing is cheaper than full multiple pass resurfacing, but is intended for younger patients with limited skin damage.

HOW IS A MICRO LASER PEEL DIFFERENT FROM OTHER TREATMENTS?

Micro laser peels can remove up to 50 microns of aged and sun-damaged skin and is not intended for patients that are older with extensive sun damage or loose, wrinkled skin.

Compared to the multilevel laser resurfacing, patients treated with a Micro laser peel heal in a fraction of time. This is because the procedure produces only minimal tissue damage which results in less sloughing, less oozing and the intensity and duration of post-operative swelling is also greatly reduced.

How many Micro laser peels will I need?

The treatment plan for every patient is different. Some patients prefer additional peels spaced at 6-month intervals.
