How Does Photodynamic Therapy Work?
Basin Dermatology & Cosmetic Center offers PDT as an outpatient procedure at our Midland, TX office. After cleansing your skin, we will apply a topical solution to the treatment area where it will need to absorb into the skin for at least an hour to fully penetrate. Once your skin is ready, it will be exposed to a special light for roughly 15 minutes, during which time the irregular cells will be destroyed. You may feel a stinging sensation during the treatment, and your skin will be sensitive for up to two days afterward. It's important to avoid overexposure to the sun during that time to prevent any further damage. Additional PDT may be recommended to get better results.
